More Eggs Roll In
An additional 2.1 million eggs are heading to three Arizona food banks under a multistate price-fixing settlement with major egg producers.
Buckeye-based Hickman’s Egg Ranch is delivering the eggs to St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, United Food Bank in Mesa, and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona in Tucson. St. Mary’s gets the largest share at 1,318,860 eggs, followed by Mesa with 489,960 and Tucson with 361,080.
In mid-August, the Yuma Community Food Bank received about 180,000 eggs from Cal-Maine Foods for distribution around the region.
Investigators allege that Hickman’s, Cal-Maine Foods, and Versova/Centrum manipulated a daily egg price index from June 2022 to March 2025, inflating costs for retailers and consumers nationwide. Across 17 states, the companies agreed to donate 53 million eggs and pay $3.3 million.
