Article Icon 1Hobbs Re-elected; Dems Gain

Gov. Katie Hobbs defeated Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs to win a second term on Tuesday, CBS News projected.

Her running mate, former Mesa Mayor John Giles, an independent, will become Arizona’s first lieutenant governor, a newly created post.

Unofficial returns showed Democrats leading every statewide race, including treasurer, an office Arizona hasn’t elected a Democrat to since 1964.

In U.S. House races, Democrat JoAnna Mendoza was projected by Decision Desk HQ to oust Republican U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani in the 6th District, and Democrat Amish Shah held a double-digit lead over Republican Jay Feely in the open, Republican-held 1st District. Republican U.S. Rep. Eli Crane and Democrat Jonathan Nez were neck and neck in the 2nd.

Article Icon 1Flooding Toll Mounts

Police believe weekend flooding may have caused the death of a second man in Flagstaff, where Mayor Becky Daggett signed an emergency declaration seeking state assistance.

Meanwhile, the toll from Beaver Creek flooding near Camp Verde became clearer, with more than 100 homes swamped on Sunday night. Many residents lack flood insurance.

In Greer, flooding washed out the village’s only bridge, cutting residents off. Firefighters planned to deploy an all-terrain vehicle and walk with people across what’s left of the bridge.

Gov. Katie Hobbs declared a state of emergency, unlocking $200,000 in state funding for affected communities. Near Tucson, Catalina State Park reopened after floodwaters and debris blocked its main entrance.

Article Icon 1Voters Decide Ballot Questions

Arizona voters were backing limits on grocery taxes and traffic cameras while rejecting election changes that included a voter ID proposal, with about two-thirds of the expected vote counted Tuesday night.

Voters weighed eight statewide measures, each needing a simple majority to pass. You can check updated results here.

Also leading were measures designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations and restricting the use of opposite-sex bathrooms and locker rooms in schools.

Other measures trailing were a DEI ban, a classroom spending mandate, and, narrowly, a ban on mileage-based vehicle taxes.

The Hormone Behind Thinning Hair After 50 (It’s Not Just a Men’s Problem)

If your part has been widening, your ponytail feels thinner, or more hair is collecting in the shower drain, you’re not imagining it.

According to a menopause specialist, when estrogen drops after 50, the relative balance of a hormone called DHT rises. And DHT is known for one thing: shrinking hair follicles.

That’s why so many women who never had hair trouble in their 30s and 40s suddenly see it later. It’s also why thickening shampoos and biotin gummies often disappoint. They don’t address what’s happening at the follicle.

The good news? She says many of those follicles aren’t gone, just dormant.

Her approach skips the serums and foams entirely. It’s two capsules a day, built around a mineral pairing many women over 50 run low on.

The Missing Nutrient Behind Thin Hair

After 50, many women run low on one mineral that helps keep DHT, a hair-thinning hormone, in check.

Biotin won’t fix that. Neither will another bottle of thickening shampoo.

A menopause specialist and an Austin hairstylist found that pairing this mineral with one B vitamin, plus three other targeted nutrients, may help support fuller, stronger-looking hair from the inside out. No serums, no foams. Just two capsules with your morning coffee.
