Article Icon 1Phoenix Water Bills Among Lowest

A study found Phoenix water bills rank the third lowest among the nation’s 500 largest utilities.

Bills varied widely across Arizona. A typical Phoenix household’s annual water bill was $151.83 last year, while Gilbert topped the 12 Arizona utilities studied at $658.50.

Nationally, the average annual bill reached $531 last year, up 62% from a decade ago. Phoenix bills rose 80% over that span, and Gilbert’s jumped 174%.

The report by the nonprofit Food & Water Watch compared annual bills for 60,000 gallons of indoor use. An Arizona State University water expert cited Phoenix’s relatively young water utility infrastructure but warned costly pump and pipe replacements are coming.

Former Arizona State University wrestler Anthony Robles, who won a 2011 NCAA title despite being born with one leg, has co-written a children’s picture book with his mother, Judy.

Inspired by Robles’ young son, Unstoppable Anthony delivers the message that being different is a superpower. The book was illustrated by his sister, Ronnie Robles Whyman.

Robles, a Mesa High School alum now in his third season coaching wrestling at Hamilton High School in Chandler, finished 36-0 as a senior at ASU.

His story inspired the 2024 film Unstoppable, starring Jharrel Jerome as Robles and Jennifer Lopez as his mother.
