Article Icon 1Prior Damage Likely a Factor in Runway Crash

Investigators say prior damage to Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil’s private jet may have been a contributing factor in a fatal February crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board determined that months before Neil’s Learjet collided with another jet on a Scottsdale runway, killing one person, the aircraft experienced landing gear failure in Oklahoma.

In that incident, the pilot reported a hard landing that caused both left main landing gear tires to burst. The NTSB said in its preliminary report that the remedial maintenance was performed incorrectly

The crash killed 78-year-old pilot Joie Vitosky. Neil was not on the plane. You can see the NTSB’s preliminary report here.

Multiple county sheriffs say they’ve still not been briefed on Gov. Katie Hobbs’ new border task force, Operation Desert Guardian, despite being named as partnering law enforcement agencies.

Most recently, Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot said he hasn’t been consulted on the effort, even after asking state entities to join the department’s well-established narcotics force.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he learned of the governor’s initiative from an emailed news release. He voiced concerns, saying, “I have my challenges. They’re not that border.

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels said he wasn’t aware of the new border task force before it was announced, nor has he seen an operational plan.

Three-time cancer survivor and actor Colin Egglesfield earned an eruption of cheers after hitting a “home run for life” during Saturday’s spring training game between the L.A. Dodgers and San Francisco Giants in Glendale. Watch the report here

At the top of the third inning, Egglesfield’s story was shared with the crowd before he hit a pretend home run, ran the bases, and high-fived players from both teams.

Known for his roles in Chicago Fire and Something Borrowed, Egglesfield has battled testicular cancer twice and was most recently treated for prostate cancer

The 52-year-old is now cancer-free and offered words of advice at the event, saying, “Don’t give up… don’t give up. There’s people out there who care, who support you and you’ve just got to be honest about how you’re feeling.”
