The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition and is expected to survive. She was identified as the daughter of a Goodyear firefighter, but her name was not released.

The police officer was also hospitalized, suffering severe burns to his hands when he used them to put out a fire in the woman’s hair. The officer’s name was not immediately released.

The woman became trapped and honked her horn in a plea for help as flames engulfed her car. The officer used a multi-tool to break a window of the car, allowing the woman to kick out the remaining glass before the officer pulled her to safety.

Article Icon 1Former Golf Course Creates a Stink

The defunct Tempe Shalimar Golf Course is drawing complaints from nearby residents who say the property has become a foul-smelling nuisance after being abandoned to make way for a planned housing development.

The course shut down in April, which has led to a dried-up pond, dead fish, and an eyesore that comes with a “nauseating” odor drifting into their backyards, residents say.

During a city council meeting this month, a group of residents also voiced strong opposition to the course’s rezoning, which would allow for increased housing density on the 42-acre site.

Community meetings with the developer are planned for June 4 and 11.

Plans are in place to transform a former Sears store in Yuma into a pickleball complex, the latest example of how developers are finding new uses for the iconic retailer’s former store sites.

Earlier this year in Tucson, developers announced plans to convert a former Sears site into a restaurant and retail shops

In Yuma, the redevelopment of the 89,000-square-foot former Sears site will feature 11 pickleball courts and six paddle courts, according to the developer, Innov-R.

Sears, which declared bankruptcy in 2018, was once the country’s largest retailer with 3,500 Sears and Kmart stores.

He’s Already IPO’d Once – This Time’s Different

Spencer Rascoff co-founded Zillow, scaling it into a $16B real estate giant. But everyday investors couldn’t invest until after the IPO, missing early gains.

“I wish we had done a round accessible to retail investors prior to Zillow’s IPO,” Spencer later said.

Now he’s doing just that. Spencer teamed up with fellow Zillow exec Austin Allison to launch Pacaso. Pacaso’s co-ownership marketplace is disrupting the $1.3T vacation home market. They’ve already surpassed $110M in gross profit and $1B in transactions.

They also recently reserved their Nasdaq ticker PCSO. But unlike Zillow, you can invest in Pacaso as a private company.

Become a Pacaso investor at $2.80/share before midnight PST tonight.
