Article Icon 1Animal Abuse Confirmed, Fairlife Flees

Fairlife, a milk company distributed by Coca-Cola, cut ties with two Buckeye dairy farms after undercover investigations revealed footage of extreme animal cruelty.

Animal Recovery Mission (ARM), a Florida-based animal rights group, released the investigation on Wednesday after surveilling Rainbow Valley and Butterfield Dairy farms for several months in 2024.

A Fairlife spokesperson acknowledged the abuse was unacceptable, however, this isn’t the first time the company has been investigated for partnering with farms accused of animal cruelty.

Article Icon 1Woman Sues City Council for Arrest

A woman who was arrested at a council meeting in Surprise in 2024 is now suing the city for violating her First Amendment rights.

Rebekah Massie was removed from the council meeting by order of the mayor and police chief after she criticized the city attorney’s pay raise during public comment. Watch the footage.

The city has a longstanding policy that prohibits speakers from badmouthing employees at council meetings. Police Chief Benny Piña released a video following the incident in which he defended Massie’s arrest.

Last October, a judge dismissed a criminal charge raised against Massie while adding that the suppression of her speech was “objectively outrageous.”

Article Icon 1Bill Advances to let Golfers ‘BYOB’

A bill that would allow golfers to bring their own alcohol onto golf courses advanced in the Arizona legislature on Tuesday. Watch the report.

House Bill 2411 would permit—but not require—golf courses at least 1,000 yards in size to let golfers bring in their own alcohol as long as the golf course holds a valid liquor license. The bill would also protect the courses’ liquor licenses from being impacted as a result.

Brady Wilson, general manager of Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, said he won’t allow it because it increases the “unknown” of what’s happening on the property.

The bill passed the House in a 34-26 vote. It will now move to the Senate.
