Man Arrested for Impersonating Officer

A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly impersonating a police officer and pulling over a driver on southbound Interstate 17 near Dove Valley Road in north Phoenix, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said.

The man, who police identified as 60-year-old Scott Millage of Cave Creek, called DPS around 8:30 a.m. to report he had stopped a couple in a silver Tesla. He was driving a silver/gray older model Chevrolet pickup truck that had red and blue emergency-style lights mounted on the dashboard.

Troopers determined he had no law enforcement authority or agency affiliation and booked him into jail on a $25,000 bond. He is accused of impersonating a peace officer, unlawful imprisonment, and kidnapping.

DPS believes the suspect may have stopped other drivers and asked anyone who experienced a similar incident to call 1-877-4AZ-TIPS.

Breakthrough in Austim Reseach Offers Hope

Phoenix researchers have developed a urine screening test that detects elevated gut bacteria or yeast infections in children as young as two, which they say could enable earlier autism diagnosis and treatment.

Arizona State University professor Dr. James Adams, who leads the Autism Diagnostics Lab, said study findings show 90% of children with autism have such infections, which release chemicals interfering with serotonin and dopamine.

Lead author Dr. Christina Flynn, whose son has autism, developed the test as her PhD dissertation. Adams said identifying infection type and severity allows families to pursue targeted treatments.

One Valley family told FOX 10 their son’s autism evaluation shifted from level three to level one after treating a yeast infection the test identified.

Measles Cases Reach Highest Level in 30 Years

Maricopa County has confirmed 27 measles cases in 2026, the most in 30 years, health officials said Thursday, with 12News later reporting a 28th confirmed case.

The county recorded no cases in 2025 and two in 2024, typically averaging about one per year. The surge stems from a statewide outbreak that began in Colorado City in summer 2025.

Officials identified a new public exposure at a Walgreens near Via Linda and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in Scottsdale on Sept. 8, urging visitors that morning to monitor symptoms through Sept. 29.

Health officials said 96% of county cases involved unvaccinated individuals and encouraged residents to check immunization records and get the MMR vaccine if not current.
