Article Icon 1  School Voucher Battle Shifts

The battle over Arizona’s school voucher program took another turn Tuesday, as Fortify AZ dropped its campaign to place proposed changes on the November statewide ballot.

A separate ballot petition drive continues by the Arizona Education Association and others. Meanwhile, state lawmakers last week referred a measure that could void the teachers’ union proposal. Fortify AZ also opposes the teachers’ union measure.

The back-and-forth comes as the state’s K-12 voucher program continues to surge in popularity, with more than 100,000 students participating in the most recent school year, up from 12,000 when the program launched in 2022.

Under the program, families typically can get between $7,000 and $8,000 per student to use for private and charter school tuition and homeschooling.

Article Icon 1 U of A Dean Eyed to Lead Boise State

The Idaho State Board of Education named University of Arizona engineering dean David W. Hahn the sole finalist to become Boise State University’s eighth president.

“His impressive record in engineering, research, and workforce development aligns well with Idaho’s continued growth and opportunity,” Idaho Gov. Brad Little said in a statement.

A mechanical engineer, Hahn holds 12 U.S. patents. Before becoming dean at U of A in 2019, he worked for about 20 years at the University of Florida.

U of A officials praised Hahn’s selection, calling him a “remarkable leader and champion for the entire university.” The school plans to appoint an interim dean and conduct a national search for the permanent position.

Unknown Number Calling? It’s Not Random

The BBC caught scam call center workers on hidden cameras as they laughed at the people they were tricking. One worker bragged about making $250k from victims. The disturbing truth? Scammers don’t pick phone numbers at random. They buy your data from brokers.

Once your data is out there, it’s not just calls. It’s phishing, impersonation, and identity theft. That’s why we recommend Incogni: They delete your info from the web, monitor and follow up automatically, and continue to erase data as new risks appear.
