Judge Blocks Access to Voter Data

A federal judge in Arizona blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to access the state’s voter rolls, ruling the federal government lacks authority to demand the data.

The Justice Department did not immediately comment or indicate if it plans to appeal. Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes and Attorney General Kris Mayes praised the decision.

The case stems from the Justice Department’s effort to obtain Arizona’s voter registration database, citing a provision of the Civil Rights Act allowing for federal oversight.

U.S. District Judge Susan Brnovich, a Trump appointee, ruled the law covers individual records and not a statewide database.

Doctor Tests New Cancer Drug

A new pancreatic cancer drug being tested by Erkut Borazanci at HonorHealth Research Institute could extend survival rates compared to chemotherapy.

The experimental drug daraxonrasib targets the cancer’s underlying biology, offering a potentially more effective and less toxic alternative to traditional chemotherapy.

High-profile cases highlight its potential, including former U.S. senator Ben Sasse, who reported significant tumor reduction while taking the drug in a clinical trial.

The early results suggest the treatment, while not a cure, could extend life and improve quality of life, offering new hope against one of the deadliest cancers.

Space Ambitions Take Shape

Arizona leaders are eager to grow the state’s role in the space economy, according to participants in the first Arizona Space Congress on Wednesday in Phoenix.

Plans include a proposed spaceport in Yuma to launch small rockets and a re-entry site in Sierra Vista tied to BlackStar Orbital’s spaceplane-style drones.

Both efforts are in early stages, with Yuma seeking FAA licensing and Sierra Vista linked to a planned spacecraft manufacturing and testing facility expected to create jobs.

Attendees at the space conference said the projects and others would position Arizona to attract long-term investment in the trillion-dollar space industry.
