The Federal Aviation Administration will begin reducing flights at Phoenix Sky Harbor and other major airports if the partial federal government shutdown continues.

The FAA said up to 10% of flights could be cut starting today as a safety measure amid airport staffing shortages. Nationally, the reduction could affect 3,500 to 4,000 daily flights.

The cuts would impact 40 high-volume airports. See the full list here.

Airlines say they will rebook or refund affected passengers.

Article Icon 1 Lawsuit: Drug Mix-Up Fatal

A lawsuit charges that a Gilbert man died after he was given the wrong drug at the city’s Copper Springs East mental health center.

The family of Kyle Slade said he was given methadone instead of his prescribed antidepressant and didn’t receive timely medical intervention.

Slade, 39, was a husband, father of four, and assistant football coach at Campo Verde High School.

The mental health center did not issue an immediate response.

Arizona placed No. 8 in Site Selection Magazine’s latest business climate rankings, slipping one spot from last year.

Arizona tied with Indiana. Texas retained the top spot, followed by North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Florida in the top five.

The rankings are based on factors that include tax policies, workforce size and skills, transportation and infrastructure, permitting ease, energy availability, and quality of life.

Currently, Arizona is surging in tech company growth, with TSMC and others investing billions of dollars to meet rising AI demand.
