Article Icon 1Election Records Turned Over

State Senate President Warren Petersen said he complied with a federal grand jury subpoena for records of the 2020 presidential election in Maricopa County.

Petersen, R-Gilbert, said the materials included records from the Republican-led audit of ballots in the state’s most populous county, which former President Biden narrowly won.

The move comes as the Trump administration revisits allegations of fraud in the 2020 U.S. election, including a similar push for records in Fulton County, Georgia.

President Trump praised the development, while Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes criticized the action.

Article Icon 1Weather Adds to Airport Delays

Flights were briefly grounded Tuesday morning at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport due to low cloud ceilings.

The restrictions expired about 8:30 a.m., with dozens of flights delayed and a few canceled.

The delays came as a cold, wet weather system continued moving through parts of the state, bringing rain and cooler temperatures.

Meanwhile, federal officials report long security lines at airports nationwide during spring break travel amid the partial federal government shutdown.

Article Icon 1Quicksand Warning Issued

The National Park Service issued a warning about possible quicksand near shorelines and drainage areas of Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

The park spans more than 1 million acres around Lake Powell and contains areas where sand may appear dry but can suddenly give way.

Quicksand forms when sand becomes saturated with water, creating an unstable mixture. Typically, the density of the mixture allows people to sink to no more than about waist level. Those who get stuck are advised to stay calm, spread their weight, and move slowly toward firm ground.

The warning comes as spring break travel ramps up.
