Article Icon 1Auto Shop Hit by Latest Prank ‘Takeover’

A social media stunt at a Tempe auto shop escalated when about 20 fake mechanics claimed they were “taking over” and entered the garage, prompting owner David Hyland to call police.

Tempe police say they’ve received multiple reports of a social media poster, Heston James, pulling similar stunts at other businesses. James uploaded the video to his social media page.

Surveillance footage shows the pranksters jumping out of a van with mechanic tools in hand, surprising confused workers at Hyland Auto Repair.

Hyland criticized the prank, citing safety concerns. He also had to call each of the shop’s customers to confirm that nothing was damaged or missing from their vehicles.

Article Icon 1Arizona Losing Favor With Retirees

A study found that Arizona as a whole no longer ranks among the top states for retirees, mostly due to rising housing and insurance costs.

However, among cities, Peoria ranked as the nation’s fastest-growing retirement destination, while Chandler, Surprise, and Mesa also earned spots in the top 10.

When comparing states, Arizona now trails less costly states such as Wyoming and South Carolina. Other states losing favor with retirees include Florida and Nevada.

According to a separate BizInsure report, today’s retirees want “fewer neighbors and more nature” in addition to affordability.
