Abduction Suspected in Guthrie Case

Pima County authorities are investigating the disappearance of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, as a possible abduction.

Savannah Guthrie described her mother as “a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant,” and urged the public to “raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said evidence at Nancy Guthrie’s Catalina Foothills home indicates she did not leave voluntarily, noting that she is of limited mobility and her medicine, vehicle, phone, and wallet were left behind.

She was last seen Saturday night and reported missing the next day after failing to attend church, prompting a multi-agency search and investigation.

UA Study Links PFAS to Infant Harm

A University of Arizona-led study found that infants whose mothers drank water downstream from PFAS-contaminated sites faced higher rates of first-year mortality, preterm births, and low-weight births.

The substances, also known as “forever chemicals,” were once widely used in industrial products and firefighting foam, and persist in soil and groundwater decades after being phased out in the U.S.

The school’s research analyzed New Hampshire births from 2010 to 2019, concluding that exposure significantly harmed infant health.

The researchers estimate the problem results in at least $8 billion annually in medical care costs, long-term health effects, and lost lifetime earnings, underscoring the value of measures such as activated carbon filters.
