Article Icon 1Hiker Dies, 4 Others Rescued in Heat

A 33-year-old man died of suspected heat-related illness while hiking Sunday afternoon in the Superstition Mountains.

The hiker, whose name was not released, reportedly suffered a seizure and went into cardiac arrest. Fire crews administered multiple rounds of CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was with four other hikers who said they’d been on the trail for about six hours and ran out of water. Temperatures in the area were near 100 degrees.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 12:45 p.m. from a group of hikers on Wave Cave Trail who reported experiencing heat-related issues. Superstition Fire & Medical crews responded to assist.

Article Icon 1Package Explodes on Porch

A package of compressed air cans ordered from Amazon exploded on a Glendale homeowner’s porch, sending shards of metal airborne and damaging the home’s front security gate.

The homeowner said she and her family were gathered for an early Mother’s Day celebration on Saturday when the blast occurred. The package contained cans of compressed air used for cleaning computer keyboards and other electronics.

No one was hurt, and Amazon officials said the company is looking into the event and will contact the homeowner.

The homeowner questioned whether Saturday’s heat was a factor. In 2018, a Phoenix woman left an aerosol can in a hot car and returned to find holes blown through her windshield.

Article Icon 1 Airman Suspected of Theft, Child Exploitation

A U.S. Air Force staff sergeant stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson faces federal charges for theft and child exploitation.

Staff Sgt. Alexander Young was already under investigation for allegedly stealing and selling bayonets, scopes, and other military equipment when authorities say they found explicit images of his 14-year-old stepdaughter on his phone. The images were captured without her knowledge.

Young pleaded not guilty to all counts and remains in custody with a jury trial set for July 1.

The $1.5T Tech Upgrade Our Cities Have Been Waiting For

Wi-Fi alone can’t handle the technologies connecting businesses, schools, and major institutions.

That’s why brands like Crayola are tapping into IotaComm’s nationwide wireless network. It’s less costly than Wi-Fi but powerful enough to help build “smarter” operations across entire cities and towns.

IotaComm’s cutting-edge IoT platform, Delphi360, can help to improve air quality, energy usage, and traffic—and is planning to integrate AI in its next product release.

Here’s why it’s such a game-changer:

  •  IotaComm owns a nationwide portfolio of scarce FCC-licensed spectrum

  • It’s a $1.5T Internet of Things market opportunity

  • Potential to reduce energy usage by up to 30%

But there’s even better news…

IotaComm is giving investors a chance to participate in their growth. Learn more about becoming an IotaComm shareholder here.
