Article Icon 1Future Road Materials Under Study

Arizona Department of Transportation engineers are working to develop more durable road materials that can withstand the state’s diverse climate across 75,000 miles of roadway.

Video footage shows an engineering team testing asphalt blends by simulating the impact of semi-trucks driving over asphalt samples. The testing uses a wheel that passes over an asphalt sample thousands of times, giving faster results than road testing.

The type of asphalt used will likely vary across Arizona’s warm and cool regions.

Our technicians know the importance of the testing because at the end of the day, we are also the stakeholders,”  transportation engineer Jesus Sandoval-Gil said.

Five people were killed in a wrong-way crash early Saturday on US 93 in Mohave County, roughly 20 miles from the Nevada border. The victims were not immediately identified.

Officers responding to a call at 2:15 a.m. found two vehicles on fire. Investigators said the driver of a Jeep was traveling northbound in a southbound lane when the vehicle hit a Hyundai head-on.

Two men were in the Jeep, while a man, woman, and child were in the Hyundai. All five died.

Driving under the influence is suspected of being a factor in the crash, investigators said.

Demonstrators gathered outside the Arizona Capitol on Sunday night to protest immigration enforcement.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation organized the event, with reports saying the group remained “peaceful” as Phoenix police maintained a presence and shut down streets during a march.

In late May, protesters gathered at a federal courthouse in downtown Phoenix after federal agents were seen detaining suspected illegal immigrants who showed up for immigration hearings.

Meet the Genius Who Invented Plastic That Dissolves in Water

The world produces 450 million metric tons of plastic waste each year. Microplastics are seeping into our oceans and food. They even show up in our bodies. So you can imagine how revolutionary a new kind of plastic that completely dissolves in water would be.

Thatʼs exactly what Timeplast has created. The company patented a water-soluble, time-programmable plastic that vanishes without harming the environment—and they’re taking investors for a limited time.

Here’s why you don’t want to miss this opportunity.

  • Revolutionary plastic that vanishes completely—no microplastics, no landfill waste.

  • 6,000% sales growth in the company’s first month on the market.

  • $1.3T market opportunity across packaging, 3D printing, and more.
