Grand Canyon Water Outages Persist

Multiple breaks in the Grand Canyon’s Transcanyon Waterline forced water to be cut off to Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, and nearby facilities until repairs are finished on Saturday.

The failures add to ongoing problems with the aging pipeline, including water restrictions last December that forced temporary South Rim hotel closures.

The latest service interruption follows a recent drinking water advisory recommending visitors boil or treat water after untreated water entered storage tanks.

A $208 million multi-year project to rehabilitate the pipeline is ongoing.

Youth Football Game Ends in Brawl

A youth football game in Mesa was canceled after a fight involving about 100 people broke out, prompting a response from 70 law enforcement officers across multiple jurisdictions.

The brawl began with roughly 10 players from each team and escalated as parents and spectators became involved. No injuries or arrests were reported.

All remaining games were canceled for the day, while indoor activities like volleyball and basketball continued at the complex.

Event organizers said those involved face possible bans from future events and other disciplinary action.

TSMC Shares Surge

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company shares surged last week after the semiconductor firm reported a 35% rise in fourth quarter profits to $16 billion.

The record profits were supported by strong orders from major clients, including Nvidia, AMD, and Apple, as demand for artificial intelligence chips continues to grow.

The strong sales have prompted the company to move the start of mass production at its second Phoenix fab to the second half of 2027, earlier than previously planned.

Earlier this month, TSMC paid $197.25 million to secure 902 acres of land south of its existing Phoenix operation.
