Answer: Dennis Green. Green coached the Minnesota Vikings from 1992 to 2001 and was close with Fitzgerald’s father, Larry Sr., who produced his weekly radio show in Minneapolis. The friendship led to a teenage Fitzgerald getting hired as a Vikings ball boy. In 2004, as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Green drafted Fitzgerald third overall. Fitzgerald said Green became “sort of an uncle to me.” Green died in 2016 at 67.
