In the 1930s, a small group of passionate Arizona citizens saw the need to conserve the plants in the Sonoran Desert, including the variety of cactus species that thrive in its extreme desert conditions. This group founded the Desert Botanical Garden, and their fascination with cactus continues through the Garden’s mission.
