Article Icon 1Trump Rallies GOP

President Trump campaigned in Bullhead City on Wednesday for governor nominee Andy Biggs and other Republicans, less than three weeks before the Nov. 3 midterm election.

Trump criticized the policies of Democrat incumbent Gov. Katie Hobbs, including accusing her of doing “the bidding of the cartels” by vetoing crime bills and legislation to require local agencies to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. Hobbs dismissed the criticism, posting on social media that Trump “can call me whatever names he wants. I’ll keep putting Arizona first.”

Trump, Biggs, and others paid tribute to the late Charlie Kirk on what would have been his 33rd birthday. Biggs, elsewhere in his remarks, vowed to eliminate the state income tax, reduce regulation on businesses, and “DOGE the heck out of Arizona.”

Undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. was among those who joined Trump onstage.

Article Icon 1Flooding Stranded 65 Campers

Dozens of campers headed home starting Tuesday after becoming stranded Sunday by floodwater at an Oak Creek Canyon campground near Sedona.

No injuries were reported. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said the creek had cut off 65 campers at Cave Springs Campground from State Route 89A.

Near Prescott, a man and his dog escaped serious injury after a tree crashed through their van’s roof, with an Igloo cooler stopping the tree trunk inches from him.

Elsewhere, the late-season rain disrupted fall planting for some Valley farmers, including a Laveen grower whose newly planted seeds rotted in the saturated soil.

Article Icon 1 NASCAR Racing and Fan Fest Return

NASCAR’s three national series will roll into Phoenix Raceway in Avondale this weekend, capped by the Cup Series race on Sunday.

A free fan fest will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Square and Science Park in downtown Phoenix, featuring cars, drivers, and music.

Phoenix hosted the Cup Series finale from 2020 to 2025 before NASCAR switched to rotating host cities starting this year, with the 2026 title race set for Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 8.

Phoenix Raceway will be one of the tracks in the rotation. The track also hosts a spring Cup Series race, won this season by Ryan Blaney.

The Cup Series Freeway Insurance 500 starts at noon Sunday, airing on USA Network. The Craftsman Truck Series starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday, and the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series runs at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
