Article Icon 1Chavez Day Dropped Amid Claims

Arizona won’t recognize Cesar Chavez Day this year over allegations the late labor leader committed sexual abuse involving underage girls, and a separate claim involving Dolores Huerta.

The United Farm Workers, co-founded by Chavez and Huerta, canceled their events in Arizona and elsewhere.

On Wednesday, Huerta, 95, released a statement detailing allegations stemming from two incidents in the 1960s, saying she decided to come forward after learning of other women’s claims.

Chavez, who died in 1993, was born in Yuma and is traditionally honored on March 31.

Article Icon 1Nanos Faces Recall

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos faces a recall effort amid criticism of his leadership in the Nancy Guthrie case and new questions about gaps in his work history.

Already under pressure over the unsolved Guthrie disappearance, Nanos faces scrutiny over misstated service and promotion dates—which he attributed to clerical errors—along with a $1.35 million inmate lawsuit.

Republican congressional candidate Daniel Butierez launched the recall effort on March 12 and must gather more than 120,000 signatures within 120 days to trigger an election.

Nanos has largely remained quiet about the recall, saying he will “always honor the will of the people.”

Article Icon 1Chiricahua Park Proposal Advances

The U.S. House advanced legislation led by U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, R-Tucson, to redesignate Chiricahua National Monument as a national park, sending the proposal to the U.S. Senate.

Supporters champion the move as a way to boost tourism and economic growth in southeastern Arizona, with Willcox Mayor Greg Hancock saying the designation would be “transformational” for local jobs and businesses.

Backers also argue that national park status would raise the area’s profile and bring more visitors, while maintaining existing management of the land. See photos of the park here.

The proposal builds on efforts dating back to 2016 and, if approved by the Senate and signed into law, would make Chiricahua the fourth national park in Arizona.

Tech Giants Are Betting on the Next Computing Shift

Tech leaders are already preparing for what could replace the smartphone: Spatial Computing.

Companies like Apple, Samsung, and Meta are pouring billions into XR devices that blend digital work with the physical world. Now, a fast-growing startup is emerging alongside them.

Immersed built the No. 1 productivity app on the Meta Quest Store, already used by 1.5M people, including teams at Fortune 500 companies who spend up to 60 hours per week inside the platform.

But software was just the beginning.

Immersed is now launching Visor, an XR headset designed for productivity that features 2M more pixels than Apple’s Vision Pro for 70% less money and at 70% less weight. The company projects $71M in first-year sales.

Major industry players are already taking notice. Immersed has partnerships with Qualcomm and Samsung, while executives and founders from Intel, Reddit, and Sailpoint have already invested.

The company has already grown its valuation 4,000% and has reserved the NASDAQ ticker $IMRS as it prepares for public markets. For investors, the real opportunity may be getting in before a potential IPO.

You can still invest pre-IPO at the current valuation, but not for long.
