Cardinals Top Saints in Opener

The Arizona Cardinals lived up to their road-favorite hype when they took down the New Orleans Saints 20-13 in their NFL season opener on Sunday.

The Cardinals, who play the Carolina Panthers next, went into the game as 6.5-point favorites.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. met preseason expectations, recording 71 yards and a touchdown on five catches, including this 45-yarder.

The Cardinals scored 14 in the second quarter, while the defense held the Saints without a touchdown for the game.

Tucson Among Riskiest for Cyclists

Tucson has been named one of the most dangerous U.S. cities for cyclists, with eight cyclist deaths in 2023, more than four times the national average.

The city ranked fifth on the Consumer Affairs list, behind Stockton, California; New Orleans, Louisiana; Tampa, Florida; and Sacramento, California.

Tucson adopted a Complete Streets policy in 2019, requiring future roadway improvements to accommodate all users, not just motorists.

Local cyclists say that while roadway improvements are helping, driver awareness remains a key factor in preventing accidents.

Robotaxi Manufacturing Plan Advances

U.S. automaker Lucid secured a $300 million investment from Uber to manufacture robotaxi vehicles in Arizona, with plans to build 20,000 over six years.

The agreement follows the July announcement of a partnership by Lucid, Uber, and driver system developer Nuro to deploy robotaxis to an unidentified major U.S. city by 2026.

The autonomous vehicles will be built at Lucid’s Arizona factory, combining the advanced electric vehicle platform of the Lucid Gravity SUV with Nuro’s self-driving system.

A prototype is running at Nuro’s closed-course testing site in Las Vegas.
