Arizona swimmer Deborah Gardner set a Guinness World Record as the oldest woman to swim the Catalina Island Channel off the California coast.

The 66-year-old completed the 20-mile swim in just over 13 hours, braving frigid, shark-infested waters, and waves of up to three feet.

Fewer than 900 people worldwide have completed the channel crossing

Gardner dedicated the swim to her father, a 90-year-old retired Marine, while raising funds for a nonprofit supporting veterans’ mental health.

Tesla hopes to launch its first wave of autonomous robotaxi cars in the Phoenix area by the end of this year, pending regulatory approval.

The service would enter a market already served by Waymo, which partners with ride-hailing service Uber.

Tesla’s launch in Phoenix is part of the company’s plan to deploy self-driving robotaxis in eight to 10 metro areas nationwide by year’s end.

In September, Tesla received permission from the state Department of Transportation to test autonomous vehicles with safety drivers on public roads.
