Article Icon 1Dutch Bros HQ Moving to Phoenix

Popular coffee chain Dutch Bros will relocate its corporate headquarters from Oregon to Phoenix, prompting some Oregon lawmakers to label their state as unfriendly to business.

Dutch Bros said relocating to Phoenix would allow for more field support roles in one location, access to growing markets, and proximity to a major airport. The move comes about a year after Arizona native Christine Barone became the company’s CEO.

Dutch Bros began as a single coffee cart in 1992 before growing into a national brand valued at nearly $12 billion, behind only Nike among Oregon’s most valuable businesses.

Oregon state Sen. Daniel Bonham said the company “didn’t leave by accident,” claiming his state punishes success and chases away opportunity.

Arizona joined 28 states in a lawsuit against 23andMe, aiming to stop the company from selling personal genetic information from roughly 15 million customers in a bankruptcy auction.

Known for its direct-to-consumer DNA tests, 23andMe is receiving pushback from states that argue customers’ sensitive and private data shouldn’t be treated as ordinary property.

In May, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals won an initial court-supervised auction of company’s assets. The auction has since been reopened, with former 23andMe chief executive Anne Wojcicki preparing a competing bid.

The crackdown continues, targeting hands-on offenders and those sharing child exploitation materials. As part of the effort, authorities are also pursuing tips submitted to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
