Arizona Drops in Business Rankings

Arizona fell six spots to No. 10 in the latest survey of the nation’s chief executive officers on the best states for business, the second biggest decline nationally.

The survey by Chief Executive magazine polled 650 CEOs in January, asking them about states’ trade environments, regulations, demographic shifts, and technological advancements.

Texas repeated as the top-ranked state, while Florida and Tennessee placed second and third, respectively. North Carolina moved up one spot to No. 4. See the list.

Arizona was second to Delaware in posting the biggest year-to-year drop in the rankings.

Bondi: ‘No Negotiating’ with Tesla Arsonist

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Tuesday said there will be “no negotiating” with the man accused of setting fire to a new Tesla Cybertruck at a Mesa dealership.

A federal grand jury returned a five-count indictment against Ian Moses, 35. He also faces local charges of arson and property damage for the April 28 actions.

“If you engage in domestic terrorism, this Department of Justice will find you, follow the facts, and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. No negotiating,” Bondi said in a statement on X.

Dozens of Schools Defy DEI Ban

The state Department of Education published a list of school districts and charter schools not in compliance with a federal directive to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.

The list on the department’s webpage shows dozens of schools failing to provide documentation certifying compliance with “antidiscrimination obligations.”

The vast majority of Arizona public school districts are complying.

Last week, some of the state’s school districts voted to defy the ban, despite the risk of losing federal funding.
