Article Icon 1White-Powder Letter Clears Fontes’ Office

A clerk in Secretary of State Adrian Fontes’ office opened an envelope of white powder Thursday afternoon, forcing evacuations at the state Capitol.

Staff isolated the powder and anyone who may have been exposed, then cleared the floor for hazmat crews. No one was hurt, and the office’s security chief, Michael Moore, shrugged it off: “To us, it was a Thursday.”

Arizona’s letter was one of more than 100 mailed nationwide to election offices, political groups, and officials, including two U.S. senators, weeks before the midterms. The FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating.

Fontes said his office’s work hardly slowed after the powder proved non-toxic. “To whoever sent that package, you failed,” he said, urging voters to answer intimidation by turning out.

Article Icon 1Arizona Sues OpenAI over ChatGPT

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes sued OpenAI on Wednesday, saying ChatGPT violates the state’s consumer fraud law and endangers children.

The lawsuit says OpenAI “put profits over safety” in rushing ChatGPT to market and hid features built to mimic human compassion to draw in young users. It adds that the chatbot has at times produced responses users read as encouraging self-harm or violence.

Arizona is one of eight states that filed separate suits Wednesday, along with Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, and West Virginia. Arizona’s complaint says ChatGPT encourages teens to share personal information and at times discourages them from telling parents.

OpenAI spokesperson Drew Pusateri said the company has built “industry-leading age-specific protections,” including parental controls and break reminders. OpenAI says ChatGPT is meant for users 13 and older, and those under 18 need a parent’s permission.

Article Icon 1Supreme Court Clears GCU Law School

The Arizona Supreme Court unanimously approved Grand Canyon University’s new College of Law, which is set to become the state’s third law school as early as 2027.

Arizona lawyers have generally needed a degree from a school accredited by the American Bar Association, and that process can take years. Under the approval, GCU graduates can seek a law license right after graduation if they pass the bar exam and meet the state’s other standards.

Chief Justice Ann Scott Timmer pointed to Arizona’s “significant shortage of attorneys.” The court will set conditions and keep watch over the school, and it won’t take similar requests from other unaccredited law schools while it tests the new arrangement.

The private Christian university first announced the law school in August and plans to ground students in the Constitution, free markets, and a Christian worldview. GCU still needs approval from its national accreditor and will apply for ABA accreditation once it’s eligible.

The Pentagon’s Got Their Eye on This Tech

One of the biggest indicators for forward-thinking investors is where the US government puts their money. They move first on the technology they know is going to shape the future.

First, they bet big on jet engines. Then drones. Now? It’s flying cars.  This August, the U.S. Air Force just signed a $142M deal for a flying car company building five-seater fleets. But our nation’s defense can’t stop there. Our nation’s most covert operations need smaller, personal aircrafts. And Doroni, the company positioned to lead the $100B personal eVTOL category, aims to capture this opportunity.

Their flying car, the H1-X opens the skies to all members of the military. Their SOULAI platform is so intuitive, you can pilot their aircraft after 25 hours of training. And its patented ducted fan system is designed to be safer than competitors.

This is your chance to get in at the private stage. Invest in Doroni today at $3.30 share before the share price changes after 10/22.
