Purple Heart veteran and convicted attempted murderer Jose Barco was deported from an Arizona immigration center to Mexico.

Authorities said Barco was deported because he was a noncitizen with a criminal history, citing his 2009 conviction on two counts of attempted murder in Colorado.

Activists protested his removal, alleging that Barco only agreed to give up further appeals of his deportation case because of conditions at the immigration center.

The Venezuelan-born Barco was ordered deported after serving 15 years in prison for shooting up a house party and wounding a pregnant woman in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The company said there is no evidence its formula caused illness and that the recall was ordered out of an “abundance of caution.”

A couple in Kentucky filed a similar lawsuit after their 4-month-old daughter fell ill.

More information on the recall is available on the company’s website.

A joint venture of Brazil-based Mantiqueira and Colorado-based JBS will acquire Buckeye-based Hickman’s Family Farms.

The family-owned farm began in 1944 and is considered the Southwest’s largest egg producer, with locations also in California, Colorado, and Nevada.

Earlier this year, Hickman’s lost millions of egg-laying chickens to bird flu, causing its first production shortfall in 81 years and layoffs of 85 employees.

The purchase will give the new venture, Mantiqueira USA, control of Hickman’s Arizona operations and its regional supply chain.
