Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company’s fastest AI chips are now in full production in Arizona, marking a major step in reshoring U.S. semiconductor manufacturing.

The move follows pressure from President Trump, who urged Nvidia to move production from Taiwan in support of U.S. job creation and national security.

Nvidia, based in Santa Clara, California, is also investing $1 billion to strengthen American telecom infrastructure, partnering with Finland-based Nokia to build 5G and 6G base stations.

On Wednesday, Nvidia became the first company to reach $5 trillion in stock value.

A Tucson resident originally from Jamaica said her relatives are safe and their home is intact after Category 5 Hurricane Melissa tore through her homeland on Tuesday.

Eva Henry-Hall, who moved to the U.S. in 2003, said she was glad for the news. The day before, she was unable to make contact with her mother, her brother’s family, and other relatives who live on the island.

The scenes of damage are “scary,” she said.

The hurricane battered communities for hours, with sustained winds and heavy rain flattening homes, downing power lines, and washing out roads. The prime minister declared the entire island a disaster area.

A police officer in Mesa was shot and an immigration agent in Phoenix was injured by a fleeing motorist in unrelated officer-involved shootings early Wednesday morning.

The police officer was hospitalized in stable condition. The immigration agent was hospitalized for evaluation.

In Mesa, police had stopped the vehicle of a suspected trespasser, who fired on officers as he fled. The driver was found dead from a gunshot wound, but it was not immediately known whether the shot was self-inflicted or fired by police, authorities said.

In Phoenix, a suspected illegal immigrant from Honduras tried to speed away from a traffic stop while an agent was directly in the vehicle’s path, prompting the agent to open fire, authorities said. The driver was hospitalized in stable condition.
