Article Icon 1State Weighs Cyber Funding After Hack

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes called for $10 million in cybersecurity upgrades after Iranian hackers allegedly breached the state’s online candidate portal in June.

The breach came after U.S. missile strikes on Iran, with the hackers posting images of late Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini and messages threatening revenge.

No voter data or vote tabulation systems were compromised. Election officials said the sophisticated attack highlights long-standing vulnerabilities.

State Rep. Nick Kupper, R-Surprise, and other lawmakers asked Fontes for a full briefing, calling the breach an act of cyberwarfare.

Article Icon 1Above-Ground Pools Recalled

Consumer safety officials issued a recall for 5 million above-ground pools, including some models from Chandler-based Bestway.

The recall covers above-ground pools 48 inches and taller, including specific models from Bestway, Coleman, Intex, and Polygroup sold between 2002 and 2025.

Officials linked nine child deaths between 2007 and 2022, all occurring outside of Arizona, to children using the pools’ exterior compression straps as climbing steps.

The pools were sold by retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Home Depot. Consumers can contact Bestway, Intex, or Polygroup for a free repair kit.

Now more than two months into the attempt, he’s documenting the experience on his social media page while enduring indoor temperatures as high as 110 degrees.

Farmer shared photos of the experience as he uses fans and monitors airflow to avoid health risks and prevent damage to his home, including mold growth.

His attempt began in May and will conclude in late September.
