Federal and local authorities raided multiple Colt Grill locations in northern Arizona after an investigation into alleged money laundering and immigrant labor exploitation.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and federal agencies served search warrants at the chain’s four restaurants in Arizona, located in Sedona, Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Cottonwood.

Colt Grill operators face federal charges for allegedly using illegal immigrant labor, underpaying wages, and avoiding taxes.

Adelita Grijalva won the Democratic primary Tuesday for the Congressional District 7 seat long held by her father, the late U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva.

Adelita Grijalva will face Republican businessman Daniel Butierez in the Sept. 23 special election after Butierez secured the GOP nomination on Tuesday.

Grijalva, a former Pima County supervisor, won with 62% of the vote, defeating activist Deja Foxx and former state Rep. Daniel Hernandez.

Raúl Grijalva died in March at age 77 after complications from cancer treatment. He represented the Southern Arizona district for 12 terms in Congress.

The National Park Service defended its response to the lightning-sparked Dragon Bravo Fire that led to the destruction of the Grand Canyon Lodge and other structures.

The agency said the wildfire was initially confined to an area targeted for a future prescribed burn, and then spread beyond natural fire breaks due to uncharacteristic nighttime wind gusts of more than 40 mph.

Due to firefighter safety considerations, the agency decided not to deploy air resources—including dropping retardant on the lodge and other structures—during the overnight hours.

U.S. Sens. Ruben Gallego and Mark Kelly, along with Gov. Katie Hobbs, have called on Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to investigate the decisions that led to the destruction of the Grand Canyon Lodge and other structures.
